Virtual Programs

In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic and to managing the changing dynamics of how programs can be offered, we currently offer two virtual programs: Walk this Way and Virtual Bites Cooking. Virtual programs help us to continue to connect with our members in a new and exciting way! Trained staff run weekly live Zoom sessions that are fun and engaging to the members with games, dance sessions, video enhancement and of course, live participation without having to leave your home! Virtual programming also increases the reach of BGC Thunder Bay within our community by reducing the barrier to physically accessing one of our sites: any child or youth registered in school is able to participate in virtual programs.

We would like to acknowledge the generous support of Employment and Social Development Canada, Telus and the McConnell Foundation

Virtual Bites

Each week, we upload our “cooking show” onto the media platform YouTube to our BGC channel; our staff works though a new recipe each week, from start to finish, so families at home can get the step-by-step instructions to follow along from home. This program is designed for members that are not able to participate in live cooking programs and are easily accessible through YouTube. The staff prepares meals and snacks that are budget friendly, healthy, fresh and exciting!

Video’s are uploaded every Friday to the page: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-CRgJ8EemTO2rcKr2NLyaQ

Walk this Way

Walk This Way is a virtual based program, designed to teach members about; active transportation, why being active is so important and how to be healthy and active daily. Come join and have multiple chances to win some prizes, learn some new things and have tons of fun with some other members!

To sign-up, please email Jess at jmartyn@tbaytel.net

Get in the Game

Get in the Game is funded by Canadian Tire Jumpstart.

This program is delivered afterschool in person for each cohort but we decided to deliver a virtual version for members to do at home. These videos will teach skills and help children stay active.
